The Collectable, The Unusual, The Memorable

Nodes Notions
Nodes Notions sells stuff that is collectable, or unusual, or memorable to people who collect items which are sometimes very hard to find.

The customer base is varied depending upon what I scouted out.  Primarily the people I would target are those who like nick-nacks, sports memoribilia, joke items, or just unusual things.

I sell them on e-bay, Craigslist, and Amazon.com

People who would would not be interested in say my tea service, would possibly be interested in say the Joh Rigging's signed mini helmet from the year we was inducted into the Hall of Fame (however, I don't think I could part with that, after all, if it weren't for John Riggins I wouldn't even like football).  Because of this, my marketing would have to be equally appealing to the very dainty woman, and the very burly man. I would therefore not use themes that were specific to a gender or interest, instead I would focus on clean lines, marketing colors that induce buying such as green and red, and my writing style would have to be such that both of the above readers would enjoy it.

In order to effectively market my"Notions" I will have to create a whole new web identity, including email, so that my personal blogging activity doesn't alienate any prospective customers.  This can only be accomplished by ensuring a real "split" between personal musings, and sales and marketing.

2 Sites with some issues

http://spotmetering.com
3 problems:
1) too much text
2) Color choice is Very hard on my eyes
3) Some statements are simply wrong, because they are stated as fact when they are opinion.

www.riversideartcenter.org
1) the width is too great
2) There is no title in the header it just says "home" so if you have multiple tabs open you have to guess which is riversides'
3) fonts are inconsistent, colors are harsh, not appealing.  This is an art site?
Blog Post : Have you ever experienced difficulty communicating with a business? Would social media have made it easier to get noticed or get your problem solved? If not, have you ever had a positive experience communicating with a business through social media?
Write 150 words or more describing what made your experience negative or positive.

A) I have had difficulty communicating with El Torito's in Oceanside, at first they responded to a tweet I wrote regarding poor service, but then they never followed up.

I haven't been back because I felt that in addition to poor service the initial response was just for "appearance" and not meant for anything meaningful by way of resolution.

B) On the other hand we were at a seafood restaurant in Mission Bay at Dana landing and I took a great photo and tagged the business name in it (Hyatt).  I immediately got a mention and thanks and compliment on the photo from the Concierge desk, that was great!
